EarthCoach Institute, Inc. was officially incorporated on Earth Day, April 22nd 2004. This was a reason for celebration, as it was the culmination of many years of dreaming, planning, and hard work by co-founders, John King and Jae Hodge.

Although originally located in the Philadelphia area, EarthCoach was destined to relocate to the shores of Los Angeles, California, and did so in January, 2005.

Once there, no time was wasted in opening “Sound Of The Sun,” the first martial arts studio in Los Angeles to specialize in instructing women.

A wide range of classes, workshops, and special events were held at this peaceful dojo, then also throughout the Los Angeles area. If people were interested in learning the EarthCoach way but were unable to make it to the “SOS” studio on the grounds of EarthCoach Institute, Earthcoach traveled to them.

Community centers, yoga studios, business offices, movie sets, and even some client’s mansions were some of the wonderful locations John visited to help quench their genuine thirst for knowledge in LA.

This was truly the beginning of John’s renowned reputation as a “traveling teacher.”

The “traveling” part would become more prominent for John as EarthCoach grew successfully, but also due to a developing situation involving his family back in the Philadelphia area.

It was ultimately decided that a return to the east coast would be necessary, and so EarthCoach Institute relocated once again in October, 2006. However, there is still an EarthCoach office operating in Los Angeles in order to serve the devoted west coast clientele.

Back in the metropolitan Philadelphia area, the decision was made to transform EarthCoach Institute from a physical studio and headquarters into the virtual network you now know and love.

This has proven to be the most successful version of EarthCoach yet! It not only provides the world with 24/7 online access to all of the latest and greatest information, inspiration, and instruction EarthCoach has to offer, but it liberates John as a traveling teacher because there is no longer a physical plant to maintain.

So, in the grand scheme of “nothing by chance,” EarthCoach’s loss is everyone’s gain!
